According to the quoted source, in August 2012, the turnover of retail trade (except for the trade in vehicles and motorcycles) increased compared with the previous month, both in unadjusted terms (4.7%) and in terms adjusted to the number of working days and seasonality (+0.7%).
The increase in the turnover of retail trade (except for the trade in vehicles and motorcycles) in unadjusted terms, in August 2012, compared with the previous month, was owed to the sales of food, beverages and tobacco (+7.6%), retail fuel trade in specialized stores (+6.8%) and sales of non-foodstuffs (+1.2%).
Moreover, the turnover of retail trade in terms adjusted to the number of working days and seasonality, in August 2012, compared with the previous month, rose due to higher sales of food, beverages and tobacco (+ 2.3%) and retail fuel trade in specialized stores (+1.7%). On the other hand, the non-foodstuff sales decreased by 3%.
The INS data show that from January 1 to August 31, 2012, the turnover of retail trade (except for vehicles and motorcycles) went up by 4.3% from the similar period in 2011 in unadjusted terms. Also, the increase stood at 4.4% in terms adjusted to the number of working days and seasonality.
The INS data are based on the monthly statistical survey on short-term indicators in services (SERV TS). The selection base of the sample ensures representativeness calculated in line with 93.3% turnover of the total active units.
The data are collected from approximately 1,760 business operators having retail trade as main activity, and the error margin + / – 3%.
