On Monday, February 29th, 2016, Mr. Achim Irimescu, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, at the invitation of H.E. Mr. Karsten Vagn Nielsen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark in Romania, participated to a meeting organised by the Embassy of Denmark in Romania, at the Intercontinental Hotel, in Bucharest. The event was attended by a delegation of Danish businessmen and investors, discussing the status of Romanian agriculture as well as the absorption of European funds and investment opportunities in Romania.
Achim Irimescu presented the problems faced by Romanian agriculture, as well the opportunities it offers, underlining Romania’s need, as well as its openness to foreign investments so as to reduce the gaps between the rural areas in Romania and the rural areas in the EU member states.
The Minister presented a list of opportunities presented by Romanian agriculture, showing that the legislation recently approved or pending approval will contribute to making up for the current deficiencies, leading to a greater predictability in agriculture.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Achim Irimescu stated that Romania remains open to foreign business solutions, seriously takes into account the propositions concerning the solving of problems faced by Danish capital in our country, also expressing interest in visiting the Danish investors’ farms in Romania. Furthermore, he invited them to join the Romanian Ministry Of Agriculture's workgroups in order to develop the agricultural legislation.
